BIOL 201 Lecture Notes - Lecture 16: Journal Of Cell Biology, Paclitaxel, Microtubule Nucleation
Document Summary
At the tip of green, catastrophe happens, then collapses right back to the seed (the starting template) Nucleation factors are kind of like arp2/3 complex in actin. Microtubules are sensitive to cold -- they go away when it"s cold. Tubulin ring complex ( -turc) provides a template for microtubule nucleation. We see aa lot of growth of microtubules at the distal tips of the dendrites. Arp2/3 binds to the base, spire binds to the side of, the actin monomer. Binds to side, grabs the c-terminal and starts pulling on it through the enzyme"s pore, in the middle of its ring. +tip proteins: they do tip-tracking, growing outward with the microtubule network. The green tips: eb1 proteins; they stick on and fall off really quickly. Eb1 have become reporter proteins for microtubule growth dynamics. Dcx also binds to the plus end, just like eb1. Losing both = losing tip-tracking and losing curvature. In graph: slope of line is rate of growth.
