Yes, we do read them & value constructive comments. Forward vs reverse genetics o do we need forward genetics in the era of genome sequences & reverse genetics techniques? o yes!!! Not unusual to find no phenotype when knockout genes: sometimes due to looking in wrong place or in wrong conditions. Functional/genetic redundancy: lack of phenotype often due to another gene family member that can. Take over for it : may need to knockout multiple genes to determine function. Hard to target particular process: don"t know role of gene until do mutation & may have nothing to do with what interests you.
