ANAT 321 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Fear Conditioning, Decision-Making, Parieto-Occipital Sulcus
Document Summary
The area that forms a ring around the white matter (corpus callosum; connects the two sides of the brain) is called the limbic lobe. Immediately rostral to the central sulcus - runs parallel, called the precentral sulcus. Two other sulci that starts at the front of the brain and runs perpendicular to the central sulcus: superior frontal sulcus. These sulci are almost always present in human brains. Major gyri of the frontal lobe: precentral gyrus - strip of cortex that is the primary motor cortex, defined by the precentral and central sulci, main output of the cortex in terms of controlling movement function. Superior, middle, and inferior frontal gyri: defined by the superior and inferior frontal sulci. Involved in various aspects of executive function: decision making, inhibition, appropriate responses, etc, the inferior frontal gyrus is divided into subsections, opercular, triangular, and orbital part (from caudal to rostral) Orbital = where your eyeballs are located.
