Formation of habits: the use of the basal ganglia and dopamine. In contrast one-time exposure (i. e. : the type of learning that is involved in meeting someone for the first time and recognizing their face at a different time/place), habits require a learning curve. For the results in a prediction task performance, like that of the weather guessing, normal subjects start off so-so, but then they got better over time. As for the amnesia patients, them too got better over time. When performing these activities, pd patients follow it just as well as normal subjects, whereas this time, the amnesia patients are the ones who do poorly. This goes to show that pd and amnesia involve different memory systems since they are both good/bad at different memory tasks (implicit vs. explicit) Olds and p. milner implanted electrodes inside of a rat"s brain which innervated the hypothalamus.
