Document Summary

Posterior inferior cerebellar artery (picas): these supply blood to the back side of the cerebellum, and emerge from either side of the vertebral arteries. Anterior inferior cerebellar artery (acas): these are the other 2 main arteries that branch out from the merged basilar artery. Blood and ventricles: the posterior communicating artery branches off from the posterior cerebral artery. Regions of the cortex supplied by anterior, middle, and posterior cerebral arteries. Anterior: supplies blood to the anterior/medial regions of cortex. Middle: supplies blood to the lateral/ventral regions of cortex. Posterior: supplies blood to the occipital/parietal lobe. The brain inside the skull: floating and maintaining shape due to csf. Superior sagittal sinus: triangular shaped tube that runs along the front of the brain all the way down to the back of the brain via the longitudinal fissure. It acts as a vein, carrying deoxygenated blood out of the cerebral cortex from the front to the back.
