ANSC 312 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Caseous Necrosis, Coagulative Necrosis, Cell Nucleus
Document Summary
*please note that these notes complement the lecture slides. Lecture 6 end of power point on cell death. > apoptosis: cell shrinking (collapsed), necrosis: cell swelling. > reactive oxygen species (ros) and enzymes from the lysozyme. The histological appearance of the tissue depend on the type of necrosis. Coagulative necrosis is the main cause of necrosis. And when you have bacteria it will lead to pus release. Digestion of tissues when you have a lot of bacteria. Gangrenous necrosis -> occurs on the extremities body parts. In the dead cells (not neutrophils ones) we cannot see the nicely organized cell nuclei: we can classify those cells as cardiolysis because we cannot see the nuclei anymore. For coagulative necrosis: slide 34, picture on the left: the lighter purple parts are dead while the dark purple is alive and well. Picture on the right: other example in the kidneys.
