Sept 27 type of apes and primate sociality. Most similar morphologically and behaviorally to new world monkeys. All apes lack tails, while monkeys have tails. Apes are more reliant on vision than monkeys. Apes have more of a tendency to remain upright (posture) for a longer time. All apes in the wild have been observed using tools, while very few species of monkeys have. They have a gular sac (vocals) unique to other primates. They are the only primate to engage only in brachiating locomotion (use feet and arms to swing from trees to trees) Siamangs found only on the island of sumatra, indo. A little bit larger than gibbons and are highly vocal, they also have webbed toes. There are two species but a single genus. The only entirely arboreal great ape, and move primarily through quadrumanous locomotion (with all four limbs).
