Document Summary

We were preoccupied with production and reproduction processes through cultural lenses. Gender is not a theory, it could be a concept. We look at relationships that are gendered and de ne what it is to have a gender identity. It is something that has lived through interactions in the ecological material world. Cecile jackson (1993) talks about gender relations i. e. social relations which systematically differentiate men and women in processes of production and reproduction. There are norms that show up in every society and culture and they state how you have to behave as a gendered individual, if you go against this you could be refused in certain areas (private or public) In a lot of societies, men have more entitlement to things than women. Norms ask that only men deal with land, there are positive aspects to this (who to talk to, who to refer to) + entitlement and property but also responsibility.
