ANTH 413 Lecture Notes - Lecture 19: Field Research
Document Summary
Lecture 19: visibility of women in archaeology in both prestigious and small scale archaeology journals. Studies have shown that in fields that site the first initial rather than first name, there is more parity since you don"t know the gender of the author. If you are a man and co-authored a publication with another man or another woman, you get credit for tenure. If you are a woman who co-authored with a men, it didn"t count. However if you are a woman who co-authored with a woman, it did count for the tenure: articles on sexual harassment in archaeology: only started talking about it around. It"s a really complex problem with many different parts. In the us, there has recently been a study on grant submission rates (lynn. Goldstein) women were not applying for grants at the same rate as men.
