ARTH 207 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Extinction Event, Overfishing, Overexploitation
Document Summary
A lot of animal behaviour is predictable and stable. Its an automatic response to a triggeror stimuli. Ex: when goose see egg shaped object outside of her nest, she will roll it inside her nest look too much like a fish. Check pp p. 10-11-12 even if it"s not an egg. Ex: three-spined stickleback male fish will attack anything with a red belly even if it doen"t. Innate behaviours are important especially in specie since no parental care so can"t learn. Bond can last a lifetime but it"s done in a small window when they developed from them! Learned behaviour is more common in animals that live long enough for social interaction so can learn. Ex: imprinting of a chick to the first thing they find moving outside of the nesting! Can be the mother or another bigger animals like humans!
