Midas is granted a wish: his golden touch. This included: food, water, even his daughter. Begs dionysus to take the wish away which he agrees to do; washed away in the river. Ethological explanation for the gold found in pactolus river, sardis. Dionysus also stops at the island of naxos: where he meets his wife. From crete, theseus had just slayed the minotaur with the help of ariadne and was returning to. Helper maidens: generally have a bad ending. Dionysus sees the beautiful woman and marries her: they actually live happily ever after (rare) Extremes of behaviour, strange influence on women, un-greek".
