Akkadian religion, cont"d: according to sumerian authors, naram-sin was responsible for the fall of akkad, gudea of lagash (2141-2122): not a king, uses the title of ensi - different from a king. Enso= prince, ruler/governor- in charge : reigned in peace for nearly 20 years, very religious man, was worshipped as a god during his lifetime. Many rulers boast about their dominance/strength in war: there are about 30 statues of gudea discovered. Inscription of a dream and its interpretations: for the first time we have a description of a dream and the religious interpretation of it. Why this is a big deal: dream interpretations are rare in sumerian: dreams were real: there was no such thing as it was just a dream - no difference between being awake or being in a dream. In the dream of gudea, the main text describes the building of the temple of ningursu.
