Sumerian religion: the uruk period (3800-2800, the invention of writing, the importance of the city, the beginning of monarchy, sumerian gods and goddesses, first texts probably written around 3200 using pictograms (not yet cuneiform, sumerians= earliest civilization. They were not even mentioned in the bible. Greco roman authors didn"t mention them either. Not mentioned in western world: first half of 19th century: french, british archaeologists start finding traces of old civilizations, reason why sumerians were the last to be discovered (in archaeology): Persians- occupied @4-5th cent: 20-24 layers of the city of uruk found: means it was rebuilt/destroyed many times, long long ago the deeper they dig, the more ancient the civilization found: took a while to find.
