Innate goodness is bestowed as a potential. This potential is to be actualized by the ritual. To perform ritual, we need to follow an ideal order ( the way) By following the way, our virtue manifest. Those who have virtue and have realized they goodness are gentlemen. Every gentleman knows the importance of names. The disposition, mental state of a gentlemen is wuwei. Paradigm of self- cultivation description of confucians life (stop at 70 cause he passed away at 75) Cut, polished, carved, ground stones from rivers turning really smooth. Meaning, receptive practice, habitualization and wu wei. (1) at fteen i set my mind upon learning. Also learning moral practices through reading poetry. If you learn without thinking about what you have learned, you will be lost. If you think without learning, however you will fall into danger . (2) at thirty i took my place in society.
