World literary studies focus less on english literature, but rather literature. Literature is closely tied then to judgment. Value or taste is not private but linked to social ideologies/world views. Normative forms of the discipline of english literature. Over the 20th century, there was an expansion of the canon: writing of women, writing of working classes, writing of sexual, racial, and other minorities. Development of literary studies, with which postcolonial studies are in line. 4 spaces that contributed to post colonial studies: carribean, africa, south asia. Democratization and decolonization of the canon: sometimes )reland (cid:523)it"s the (cid:498)why(cid:499) of pc(cid:524) Until 20th c, the world wasn"t literarily equal. With the wave of decolonization, we also saw a democratization of the canon. The curriculum has reacted to two political developments of the outside. Decolonization stalls from the 70s: for a variety of reasons, called the debt trap. Think of the world map, which is composed of nation states.
