ENVR 200 Lecture 16: ENVR 200- Nov 5
Document Summary
Some people think that changes in sun intensity is a significant factor. We know that the greenhouse effect is real. We know that ghgs have increased due to human activities. We are not sure how to quantify the extent to which ghgs affect global warming. Computer modeling can mathematically represent complex climate systems. Atmosphere is unstable or at the brink of instability. Looks at averages rather than specific weather events. Climate is more predictable and stable than weather due to strong negative feedbacks. Global climate models can reproduce large-scale features of circulation. They allow us to test different scenarios and their outcomes.
