Looking at the literature in fields rather than single texts and giving an analysis of those fields from their point. Introductions of books are good models for literature views and proposals: looking at recent debates of sexuality, environment, and affect and how these things come together, matter can take on a kind of wrongness or killing effect. One can be killed and one cannot and make evaluations based on this: the issue with the rock sentence is that it challenges who the subject is. It could be argued that the sentence is just poorly phrased, since there are sentences that give inanimate objects agency that makes more sense.
