Nomoi - legislative laws, human constructs, meant to deal with human problems. In the 8th century there is a push for more nomoi and dike. Describes marriage rituals and a conflict in with the demos are taking part. In the agora (marketplace) they get an arbiter and the boule (old men) set up a kind of trial where both men get to speak their side of the story and be judged. Describes a late dark age and early archaic society. The development of a justice system where each side speaks their turn. Basically an idealized city scene from homer"s time. It"s a fancy bowl which was own by patroclus, but it also has a rich history and this adds to the value. The way it came to be in patroclus" hands is just as valuable as the actual bowl: eighth century renaissance (776-480 bc) Communication and connectivity explodes as shown the archeological evidence. Technology advancements shown in the geometric pottery.
