Domestication of corn in mesoamerica (7000bc) climate change horses and mammoths disappeared, had to hunt smaller animals, started gathering more fruits and nuts etc. Also domesticated beans and squash became the diet of the centre of the continent. Term coined by paul kirchhoff means middle america; half of mexico, guatemala, el. Evolved in parallel; cultural similarities grounded in constant interaction between the cultural groups. Corn is extremely important in the whole of mesoamerica.
