Slave trade from africa open until 1850s60s in cuba and brazil. After slavery, us instituted jim crow laws (legal discrimination), race was black or white-- based on physical features. In brazil, no legal segregation/discrimination at natl level, mixed identity was recognized. Today, don"t have racial segregation of us.
