Definitions :
Parasite = organism that lives and draws resources from a host, to the detriment of the host
o Microparasites - virsues, bacteria, protozoa, fungi
o Macroparasites - worms (helminths) and arthropods
Grooming removes parasites
Disease pathology of an infection
Transmission
Close Contact : e.g. sexual vs non-sexual (grooming)
Environmental : e.g. Ascaris
Vector bone (e.g. malaria, zika, chaga - go through intermediate hosts)
Intermediate Host (e.g. schistosomiasis)
Free-Living Primates compared to humans * CHART
Helminths are more common in these than humans that are directly transmitted parasite since
we clean the food we eat before we ingest it
We don't eat food usually from the ground or trees (processed)
Protozoans are the same way - filtered water compared to free running water that have animal
poop in it
