Transitional justice and its role in shaping development. What is transitional justice: after conflicts, societies try to contain with reality; transitional justice are tools used to try and install organization. Over 80000 people sued canadian government for their treatment of indigenous people in residential schools. Have few or no rights or access in their own natural resource. Are a political minority that is often not recognized as such. United nations declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples. Declaration exists since 2007 (70 years after the creation and writing of the charter) Declares that they are free and equal to all other peoples and have the right to be free from any discrimination. Implication that there is a limit to how much we can put to those rights. Indigenous people suffered from cultural discrimination as a result of colonization.
