To study: think through the themes of the course and make outlines. Premodern v. modern need to address new challenges that arise over time. A couple gets divorced three times which is the limit in islamic law. They want to get re-married and need to nd a way to do this. Usually, the woman would have to get married to another man, consummate the marriage, and then divorce him for legitimate reasons before remarrying her previous husband. Instead, a loophole would be to proof that one of the marriage witnesses were not. That way, the marriage could be annulled and the couple should just get married again.
