JWST 240 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Houston Stewart Chamberlain, Theodor Fritsch, Aryan Race
Document Summary
One of the most influential anti-semites of the period. His book, handbook of the jewish question was a huge influence on hitler. He acknowledges the influence that fritsch"s writing had on him. The book was really popular during the nazi period. The popularity of the publication continued because of hitler and he wrote to fritsch to mark the new editions in which hitler wrote "even as a young man in vienna, i studied the handbook of the jewish. I am quite convinced that this book, in very marked fashion, served to prepare the ground for the national socialist movement" There is a struggle between the aryan race and the others. He also advocated for anti-semitism to be advocated in schools as a regular dedicated subject. He was fixated on uniting various anti-semitic groups in the german speaking context, but didn"t necessarily succeed in this - 130-140 separate anti-semitic associations in the german speaking context.
