Substance of procedural law is very common law, though the format is civilian: though they are not bound by precedent, they usually do. Comparative law/transsystemic legal education: stateless law: at most law schools, you are going to be confined to learning about the laws of the state in which the faculty is located. Students come out of law school with a very skewed understanding of what the law is because you only learned about a single system. Instrumental reason: two law degrees, the transnational realities of today; it is likely that you will have to deal with or work against individuals who operate in a different jurisdictions. Study the best principles and language from both systems: not a priority in canada, but very much so in europe, unidroit. Study ways that we can harmonize private law in europe and prepare for the adoption of a common private law standard: draft common frame of reference.
