Work motivation : motivation influences companies" efficiency and countries" economic development, differences in how and why people in different nations are motivated to work - The productivity / leisure trade-off : some cultures value leisure time more than others - push for shorter working hours, more vacations, and more time & money to spend on leisure activities. Power distance: interaction with bosses, subordinates, and peers, high power distance - people prefer little consultation between the 2 tiers, usually with autocratic or paternalistic leadership style, low power distance - prefer consultative styles. Trust: in some countries, people regard others as trustworthy, high trust - business costs are lower because managers spend less time fussing over every possible contingency and monitoring every action.
