Nsci300: meg, a portable set has been developed (look up recent nature paper, can walk around and still get clear meg signals, usually, static scanners. Hearing: the original purpose of developing tech, cochlear implants, a receiver on the exterior of the ear. Lots of issues come up in the deaf community: auditory brainstem implants (very rare ; about 1000 people in the world have that) It is not actually mind-reading, but that"s what it often gets called: especially because they rely on neural nets, sound reconstruction, try to reconstruct a sound based on the eeg signal on the person hearing it. April 4th, 2018: definitely not a way of reporting the words in someone"s mind without consent ; this is based on the auditory system ; these are not imagined sounds . Lots of psychosurgery in the 1960"s during the cold war: attempts to achieve mind-control, got pretty ridiculous, huge lack of rigor, too.
