Out of hospital cardiac arrests: 10,000 to 40,000 annually in canada. Death from cardio vascular disease (cvd) q 7 minutes. Sudden cardiac death (scd) is responsible for 50-60% of all mortality from cardiovascucular disease (cvd). Scd is the first symptom of coronary disease in approximately 10% of patients. Average age: 65 years. (70-80% are men)
