When should you call: awareness of the importance of adhering to care regiments, help navigating the system, context, literacy. Reading levels are not getting better, we are losing the ability to read. Level 3 according to the canadian als is the minimum level of functioning in our society: level 1: poor // level 2: simple tasks // level 3: adequate // level 4-5: strong. In making patient education documents, we aim for grade 4-6 levels. Lack of literacy has nothing to do with intelligen(cid:272)e. it"s (cid:449)hat (cid:455)ou (cid:449)ere taught: health literacy.
