NUTR 513 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Anti-Federalism
Document Summary
James madison and the federalist number ten is an article that discusses the utility of the union as a safeguard against domestic faction and insurrection. James madison wrote it in the daily advertiser thursday, november 22nd, 1787. James madison had contributions to the series of the articles that he was writing. However, in this specific one, he had a theme that a well constructed union would break out and control the violence of faction, as he calls it, a dangerous vice in popular governments. At the time, there were two ways of removing the causes of fractions or the political parties. First was to destroy the liberty essential to their existence. This remedy specifically would be worse than the disease. On the other hand, the second was to give everyone the same options, passions, and interests. At the time, this was impossible to happen.
