Learning (acquire knowledge) memory (encode, store, retrieve knowledge) Functional specialisation of brain: diff types of info, brain location, time of storage, broca, brodmann"s areas are discrete zones of brain responsible for certain, think zone shampooing functions. Memory types: see figure for brandon"s section. Patient hm: hc, multimodal assoc areas were bilaterally removed, but not amygdala, results: Intact priming (if you give hints to hm, he can recall things) X hc or association temporal cortex (perirhinal, parahippocampal cortices: = clearly impairs explicit memory, x left hc = forget words, obj, ppl, x right hc = spatial memory loss. X medial temporal lobe = no effect on long term memory bc long term memory is stored in association cortices. X amyg = no explicit memory deficit. X frontal cortex = source of info amnesia.
