New hermeneutic standpoint – we can lay out the structures that made the way we
already are possible
We’re not adding structures to Dasein; we’re drilling down into Dasein
We’re disclosing ourselves to ourselves
We describe the way we live in our average everydayness
We uncover various levels
Phenomenology can produce real evidence – you just have to look at yourself
You have to get used to looking at your average everyday comportment in the world
There’s a lot of existentiell evidence you can give to an existential analysis
Heidegger is adopting the recollective method by going through
Dasein is being-in-the-world
It’s entitiness, is distinctive by the ontological orientation
So, Heidegger has to develop lots of vocabulary to explain this
Heidegger doesn’t say a lot about solicitude
He’s saying that we do relate to other Dasein in our everyday existence
He will actually want to say, how do we normally relate to each other in our various
projectivities?
We will have existentiell relationships with other Dasein
He’ll introduce the notion of Solicitude, which is constituted by leaping-to and leaping-
ahead…
P. 158 (122 in German), Heidegger is talking about how the concern for worldhood
relates to others in a particular way
Dasein is always for
A simple mode of being with others is to simply pass them by
It is precisely these last name deficient
Other Dasein are both obvious and inconspicuous
This is related to the obvious and hidden nature of equipment
Can Dasein take an instrumental orientation towards other Dasein? Absolutely
We don’t understand
Solicitude:
It’s a way of recognizing other Dasein
You want the other Dasein to fulfill my projects
Their projects should be my projects – there are a lot of different ways to approach this
Heidegger has a notion of authentic being-with
Allowing Dasein to unconceal themselves to themselves – this is what leaping-ahead is
What is the structure of the “we” world? Who is this “we”?
His answer is that in our average everyday-ness, it is the “they”, the das-man
The “they” is an existential of Dasein – it is part of Dasein
It is the conditions for Dasein to have a world
The way Dasein comports itself implicitly
