If you are not successful in trial in criminal or civil law- you can raise an appeal for the case- bring the case to a higher stage called appellate stage. The judge sometimes 1 judge or 3 that will decide only on law not the facts. The appellate judge will not assess the facts. Provincial matter- go to municipal court and if you fail you can go to superior court that will sit as appellate and if not successful you can go to appeal of quebec and if not successful appeal of.
