Difference in geographic map and political map biogeographic regions cross countries: why some countries may behave similarly or not language groups, eg. germanic, romance, slavic, celtic concentration of population. Identity politics: creed and race vs. class religious attendance, us: attendance broken down by state. Immigration: europe: from former colonies, longer time and different areas. Absorbed into the class system and a collectivist mentality, allowed for social welfare. Economic system and socials that dealt with immigration: america: from all over the world, a shorter and more intense history. Asynchronical: different democratic institutions put in place at different times, not a guaranteed outcome of the industrial evolution. Middle class: the most influential actor: less need for redistribution -middle class want to be like aristocrats but their jobs don"t allow that kind of income don"t want repression, don"t want onetime concession from ruling elite.
