Rationalism and positivism inherently claim to be able to tell the one true story , giving a falsely universalizing perspective. Strands of feminist thought seek to unpack these truth claims and the power relations they establish and perpetuate. All the different strands of ir have one thing in common: they say that there is certain objective evidence that lead to one true story. This story is mostly directed at analysing a very male dominated field. Many different strands of feminist ir theories. Mainstream ir theories as more similar than different in the issues they evade : serious consideration of gender. Keohane approves of feminist standpoint as it complements mainstream ir theory. He points to the shortcomings of feminist empiricism , which highlights the international state system"s harmful impact on women. Feminist empiricism: looking at the facts of history and point out the one-sidedness of the story being told, how women"s stories as not being told.
