Purpose of survey is to operaionalise variables, to give empirical data. You must begin by inventorying all variables that need to be operaionalised. When formulaing quesions, think about which variable you are measuring one quesion can only measure one variable. Don"t pose the hypothesis directly as a quesion. E. g. you don"t ask do you think your inancial circumstances afect your views on tuiion hikes? instead ask about inancial circumstances, then ask about views on tuiion hikes. Put the data together during the data analysis stage. Do pilot work and read widely about the subject before formulaing quesionnaire. Next you formulate your quesionnaire and pre-test it. This gives you info on how efecive your quesions are. Try to pre-test on the same kinds of people you plan to administer the survey to. Can use visuals, like photos, in the quesionnaire. Can use diferently formated quesions to maintain engagement, but don"t change so oten that you confuse people.
