Controlling Labour
- Peron creates General Directorate of Labor and Direct Social Action an organization (DGTASD)
acronym in Spanish; to control all aspects of labor and union politics
- This was a ministry or directorate within govt. responsible for overseeing labor and with which
you needed to register if you wanted to form a union
- Unionization was illegal in Latin America so Peron came in and welcomed the formation of
unions which brought much political support to his side
- Then he said you are free to unionize but you must register with this directorate which
controls all aspects of labour and union politics
- Basically, workers were free to organize but not outside of the state
- Unions had to register under the General Confederation of Labor (govt.)
