The success of sanctions and keep in mind that they can be related to coercive diplomacy and deterrence theory. However deterrence theory is not the only way of thinking about sanctions. Regarding the success of sanctions its regarded to dispute normally moderately successful and the issue is to clarify the conditions to when its successfully employed. First is the issue of relative sending between the leading sender and the primary target. Referring to its relationship and the idea is that the relative superiority of the leading sender is suppose to affect the primary target both in terms of political and economic. The idea is that when the political and economic ties are hurt it affects the person greatly. The more powerful nation is able to leverage on its resources or structural situations and to push the weaker nation to do what it wants.
