Judicial accountability in some way- the obligation for the judges to explain their decisions. Even though you have independence from the executive- you can"t just do whatever you want! You have to explain to the litigant why you decided a certain way= professional accountability. Judges are well paid by public funds so they should be accountable if they behave badly. If the decision is not well reasoned it can be appealed- so a litigant will have an appeal because decision is not well written. Because we know in canada they"re not elected: Legislative overrides of judicial rulings- if the executive or legislative think it"s a bad policy, the legislative branch can enact a different statute in the parliament that is contrary to what the judges say.
