Students may choose from the list of topics or formulate their own topic. The midterm will be on thursday, february 25th. It will last one hour and will cover the beginning of the course until february 11th (if the textbook becomes available) or february 9th (if the textbook is not available). Last year"s midterm has been posted on mycourses and the 23rd of february will serve as review: 1948 is the founding of israel as a state and its political institutions, main points, partition plan. The un committee recommended partition (also as an alternative, a federation). The plan was passed in 1947 and created boundaries by following major concentrations of the population. Jerusalem would not belong to either the arabs or the jews.
