Anorexia nervosa- life-threatening, from starvation and weight loss accompanied by a strong belief that one is strong despite objective evidence to the contrary. Bulima nervoas- large consumption of food and the emptying od stomach, by puking. Phermones- chemicals released by lower organisms that influence in sexual behavior. Physiological changes and conscious feelings of pleasantness or unpleasantness aroused by external and internal stimuli, that lead to behavioral reactions. Moods- subjective feelings associated with emotions that last for an extended period of time. Emotions can increase chances of survival by providing readiness for actions. Primary- emotions considered to be universal and biologically based, Secondary- emotions that develop with cognitive maturity and vary across individuals and cultures. James-lange theory- physiological changes precedes and causes emotion. Cannon-bard theory- thalamus relays information simultaneously to cortex and to sympathetic nervous system. States that emotional feelings and physiological changes occur at the same time.
