In the pns, once you leave the spinal cord, there is still myelin created by schwann cells. In the cns, myelin is created by oligodendrocytes. Transverse plane - aka frontal section, cross section or coronal section. Ipsilateral - structures on same side of body. Meninges: are tough protective connective tissues that surround the brain. There are three types: dura mater: outer layer. It is thick and tough: arachnoid membrane: it is soft and spongy, pia mater: it has blood vessels in it. The lateral ventricles are the largest - are known as the rst and second ventricle. Anatomical divisions of the brain: at one end of the neural tube, three bulges appear which will correspond to forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. The cerebral hemisphere is one of the two major portions of the forebrain. On the surface of the cerebral hemispheres is the cerebral cortex. The convulsions increase the surface area of the cerebral cortex.
