Also, barriers to leaving: forces acting to keep the relationship together (e. g. , anticipated disapproval from others if you divorce) (things make it difficult to leave, even if you want to) Together they determine how much commitment you will feel in the relationship. Commitment: commitment = the intention to remain in and feel connected to a relationship.
