Document Summary

Sodium is the main one to depolarize a neuron. Potassium doesn"t go in because it is largely balanced. One neuron releases information that affects the neuron that is receiving it. Receptor can be an ion channel or is capable of binding to an ion channel. Neurotransmitters build up in their terminals and action potential triggers the release. Neurotransmitters: molecules that bin to a receptor - ligand. Interneuron: excites motor neuron (integrates) -> motor neuron (muscular contraction) Inhibits moto neuron(from neuron in brain) -> motor neuron (doesn"t contract) Inhibitory prevents the cell from filling action potential. Neural inhibition behavioural inhibition // neural excitation . Neural inhibition behavioural inhibition // neural excitation behavioural excitation. If neurons in brain are inhibitory, the behaviour will most likely occur. Not determined on neurotransmitter or receptor but the combination of the two. Goes into the brain to activate other ion channels.
