Types of self-construal processes: observation, bottom up. See what it is, draw a conclusion. Look in the mirror : assimilation & differentiation, more top-down, me in relation to others. Bottom up observation & top-down thought: self-narrative, what you see and your life story, bottom up observation & top down organisation, self-perception theory, social construction. We think we see what"s there, think it"s all bottom-up. Is the self-perception of attitudes influenced by the cognitive accessibility of behavioral information: study: linguistic manipulation questionnaire (chaiken & baldwin; 1981) Higher impact on subjects previously ranked as having weaker attitudes. Self-perception of emotion: how do we know what we feel, is there sometimes some ambiguity, can the self-perception of emotion be shaped by social context, two-factor theory of emotions, physiological arousal x cognitive label = emotion. Physiological arousal between happy stress and fear is very similar!
