Group life must provides some advantages for survival & stuggle. A group is a collection of individuals who have relations to one another that make them interdependent to some significant degree. Social facilitation, noticed that cyclist when they were against others or against the clock, that cyclist are better when racing one another. Hypothesis: in the presence of others, we can boost our performance. Being in the presence of other people makes us better, the presence of others tends to facilitate human performance. Triplett: also found that children tended to turn a reel faster in presence of another child engaged in the same activity. Same effect was observed even when other were not executing the same task, but just by merely being present. Zajonc"s : the mere presence of others tends to facilitate performance on simple & well learned task, but hinders performance on a difficult & unknown , unrehearsed task.
