Individual authoritarian tendencies are different than group tendencies. This profundity is like the oj simpson trial split the whites and blacks into whether they believed he was innocent or not: how are conservatives different from democrats. They take an individual approach to figuring this out mistake: liberal versus conservative haidt, functional intra-group context (liberal mindset) Harm/care harming someone in the process. Justice/fairness not reciprocating or unfairly distributing a resource: functional inter-group context (conservative mindset) Loyalty/in-group to one"s group betraying the in-group. Purity/sanctity disrespecting traditions and institutions or violating. God"s will : caveat republicans have all 5 values (they have emphasis on the last 3) Democrats have 1 and 2 but don"t really go into 3-5. The difference isn"t that liberals/democrats have all these social values and republicans don"t its actually republicans who have the broader range of all the values.
