Lecture 18 - early life experience, stress and behaviour. Minimal info so that if you are not there, the teacher can still understand. The presence of you and the presentation you give are really important in making the experience scienti cally-relevant and good. Posters will be everywhere and the teacher/tas will come with pre-made questions about the paper. Critical thinking and the way you are presenting the study using speci c terms (observational, experimental designs) are also important. Different aspects of the relation between cortisol and stress-related behaviours. How cortisol has a biphasic effect on memory coding and retrieval depending on how close it was to the stressor. Different memory systems: habitual vs. more complex, instrumental, higher order learning; in the context of stress, there is a shift from a higher-order, instrumental to a habitual type of learning (chocolate milk vs. orange juice)
