Use things that are known to elicit sexually dimorphic activity to study transsexualism. Found that neural response was closer to self assigned sex. Environmental factors can effect brain through brain plasticity e. g. white matter structure can change. Psychosocial differences in life trajectory e. g. sexual orientation. Different activities may lead to difference in cognition (e. g. videogames might influence cognitive tasks) Physiological and psychological puberty as a developmental period that are interacting with hormonal changes. Transsexual people are not a homogenous group (early vs. late onset, family reactions etc. ) Note: the studies we look at are all working in a certain conceptual framework and the conclusions can only be seen within that framework. Excitement: motivation/wanting, consummation: liking phase (sexual motivation continues wanting and liking are feedforward loop) Learning: processes help you frame later responses to cues. Approaching phase: sniffing to see if f is in heat (pheromones) Mounting: inter mount interval (imi)=how much time between episodes of mounting.
