2nd half more focused on intrinsic moivaion not about achievement like irst half. These three techniques do not always undermine intrinsic moivaion but they can depend on how child interprets it. Does the praise, reward and compeiion make child feel skilled/masterful or control/manipulated. If about challenge could be okay for intrinsic moivaion but if about beaing others then has same efects as controlling rewards. Highlighing three things which are shown to enhance intrinsic moivaion as well as learning and other posiive outcomes. Discussing schools/educaion and focusing on schools in finland. Reformed finish school system in 1980s and saw amazing results. Where less is more finish are going in exactly opposite direcion of americans and esp. Every three years there is internaional test (pisa) for 15 year olds which is proile for internaional student assessment. Taken by students in 40-50 countries with 15 year olds. Koestner thinks should look at age 15/16 to see how good system is.
